Traveling Pt.2

...After a week in Colorado I flew to New York for another full week. This was my 10th time there so I stayed out of the main tourist areas. Stayed with some amazing friends, Armistead & Elisa, in Brooklyn. Did several days of just visiting art galleries. Small shows, major shows, an art overload. Met up with so many good friends I hadn't seen in awhile. Sketched a few animals at the Natural History Museum. Ate good food. Too much to list it all.
I decided to take a walk through a cemetery in Brooklyn. It was extremely amazing. It was 100+ acres and I became immersed in it for almost 2 hours. Graves even from the early 1800's. Not realizing it closed at a certain time, I actually ended up getting locked inside. I continued to visit galleries. Even met up with one of my old art students and checked out a few shows. Saw work from Kris Kulski, Ron English, Ana Bagayan, Travis Louie, Brian Despain, Alex Gross, Victor Castillo, etc. I even got to stop by and hang out with one of my favorite artists, Martin Wittfooth. Seeing new prints and his current works for his upcoming solo show. Pretty amazing time once again.

Two events...

Two event this weekend where you can catch my work.
I'll be working with TOMS shoes at the Palm Beach International boat show. I'll be painting and customizing original toms for purchase. Below is an example of a few I'm going to start off with. So stop by & say hello.

Also, if you're more South, stop by Bear&Bird Gallery. I have a piece entitled "Reluctant Astronaut" showing & for purchase in their Square Show. There is a ton of square works at the gallery. There was also a write-up on the show, including my work, in the Sun-Sentinel. Read it HERE.

Traveling Pt.1

Traveling for 2 weeks. Did too many things to fit into one blog. So here's the first part of the trip. First week: Denver in a nutshell...
Flew from South Florida to Colorado. Ate a ton of sushi then got working on the Japanese artist, Tomomi's solo show. Hanging, lighting, setting-up, etc. Opening night was packed and full of friendly faces.
Went up in the mountains. Chased antelope. Looked at several amazing small cabins. Dreamed of staying in one for awhile. Played in the snow. Visited the real South Park. Ate good food. Enjoyed the amazing views. drew several small drawings. Visited a local high school and talked about artwork with the students. Rocked out on the piano with my buddy Brad.
Went to a MLS game: Columbus vs. Colorado. Sat super close. Watched Neverending Story on Bluray! Sat around a campfire into the night with close friends. Howled at coyotes. Visited the Garden of the Gods. Climbed massive rocks. Drove through the mountains. Prayed for Japan. Very grateful for my life & my Colorado friends.
... After 6days there I flew to NYC. To be continued ...

4,410+ miles in the sky...

I leave on Wednesday for two weeks to Denver, CO then heading to New York.

I have been working on numerous design projects for an art show involving the Japanese artist Tomomi. About 3years ago my friend Brad Corrigan saw Tomomi's work in Japan. He loved the creative innocents of it all. Also the fact that she creates work "To help make sad kids happy" was a great thing. She also had never sold a piece of artwork. So he bought all her work with a promise to share her work with others! I've helped designed all the stickers, posters, logos, fonts, flyers, notepads, etc. I will also be helping set up the show for the opening March 8th at the Beacon Gallery in Denver. See you soon Denver!

More info on the New York p(art) of the trip in the next update...
