New York Animation Project

Leaving for New York tomorrow and I haven't even started packing. I also know I'll be going from 80oweather to 30o weather. Cold is not my favorite thing but also I'm not the biggest fan of flying either. My flight:
The main reason for this trip is to work on an animation project. For this fun short film I'll be working with my friend & cinematographer Gareth Paul Cox. It's going to be an animated film using select drawing & visuals I have done. Once complete we can use the short to pitch to other directors to created a hopefully much larger project.

Some select short cartoons and films have played a major influence on this upcoming project. Here are a few creative videos that have inspired me. Enjoy...

Skateboard & fun video

Painted a new skateboard design last night. It's pretty minimal but I enjoy the clean look of the board right now.

The Hercules beetle is an awesome creature. I painted a large male one. The females are a lot smaller & don't have the horn. Once born They live underground for 10 to 12 months & only surface above ground during their last 3 months of their life. So if you see one in real life it's extremely rare. But enjoy this one for now.
Also my boys Frankie & Barry made a road trip to hang out for a few days. Frankie shot some fun footage during the trip and threw together this little video. An enjoyable rad time as always. enjoy.

Mural painted during Surf Expo

The Amor Mural.
Painted for three days straight at Orlando's Surf Expo with Jedidiah. Tons of people came out each day for the expo's non-stop mayhem. The mural was sold & helped raised over a $1000 for the Mexican based organization, "Amor".
Two 8ftx8ft murals were painted. Both were completely different yet stayed within the Mexican/ Day of the Dead theme. With our mural I wanted to convey a memory of sorts. Showing the history of Mexican families from the early 1900's and showing that in death there is still the story of that person's amazing life.

Mural artists: Dolla Bill, Andrew Spear, Patrick Maxcy, Mike Caldarera

A few close-ups & details of our mural.

It was a long week but It's always great working with other artists and hanging with friends every night. Here's a short little video Kahana threw together.

Painting live @ Surf Expo 2010

I'm pretty excited for this mural. Working with Jedidiah once again and this time also teaming up to help the Mexico based organization, Amor. Once the mural is complete the proceeds of this mural go directly to Amor.

We will be painting Jan 14, 15, & 16. I can't tell you what all is going on the large scale mural but I did provide a few images above that are inspiring the final outcome. I can also tell you that this mural will be different then any other mural I've worked on. Combining painting elements with graphic elements for something defiantly unique. The mural will be auctioned off and put online for all to see and purchase.

Gum For My Boat is a film my buddies Russell Brownley and Kahana Kalama worked on. It's a story of Hope focusing on the Bangladesh Surf Club and its members. The tour goes from Jan 10 - 16.

Saturday night- Come out & join the party!
