The Reluctant Astronaut...

Finished a new painting entitled the "Reluctant Astronaut". The 8x8 piece is based on the Oyster Toadfish. A camouflaged bottom dweller that sits motionless and waits for it's prey. I love intricate bizarre looking creatures with an interesting story. In 2008 NASA send the fish into space to investigate the effects of microgravity on the development of otolithic organs. Since 1947, over 180 different creatures have been flown into space.

The painting will be shown & available to purchase at Bear & Bird Gallery's "Square Show" opening March 10th.

There are so many non-profit organizations out there; trying to help do this or that. I've seen & even worked with my share of good hearted organizations and those who are just the opposite.
Light Gives Heat is an organization that truly has their heart and goals towards helping others. I've worked with them several times before and I stand by everything they do. That's why I am stoked to share with you guys a major upcoming US tour. LGH will be stopping in a town near you, sharing thier story, the amazing film "Moving On", and much more. To help with funds for this adventure they are trying to raise $100k during the month of February. Every dollar counts. New print released...

The collaborative print is now available online.
Again they are priced extremely well for everyone to be able to purchase. They will ONLY be available for one week and there are ONLY 50 available. The 16"x12" print is a collaborative image based on a drawing by myself & the added graphic design work of my friend Mike Caldarera. Each print comes signed by both artists and individually numbered. Limited edition prints coming soon...

On Friday I had 50 limited edition prints printed at the print shop. I was very impressed with how good they came out. I also wanted to make them available to a wide variety of friends & fans so they will be very buyer friendly. The print is a collaborative print based on a drawing by myself & the added graphic design work of my friend Mike Caldarera. Each print comes signed and numbered and will be available through the online store.

During my last trip out to Colorado I headed over to Grand Junction, CO to work once again with Light Gives Heat. While there I painted a large scale mural in their headquarters. The idea was to use the idea of The Giving Tree, a selfless giver used to help others in need. Yamo Films was kind enough to time-lapse the entire 2 day process. If you missed out on last weekend' live painting event for the grand opening of Christian Surfers National headquarters...
Painted for 3 hours during the event. Met and saw a lot of new faces. The 5x4ft canvas will be completed in 2 weeks. Prints of this piece will be available in the future as well. Here are a few quick pics from event. Enjoy...

Live mural painting this weekend...

I will be painting a 5x4ft canvas at the Christian Surfers International Headquarters. The design I have have planned is pretty wild. Excited to share it with you guys. My photographer friend AJ Neste will be showing several prints along side of me as well. Food , music, & fun. If you are around be sure to stop by and say hello!

6 years ago today...

I realized today I had my first solo show 6 years ago.
I've shown work in galleries but never had a real solo show until January 11, 2006. It was a fun and long process. My work has changed a lot since then. But looking back is always fun. I found some old pictures from that night. Enjoy...

A recap of 2011...

- Painted more commissioned works this year than any other before.

- Showed in 12+ shows.

- Painted 8 live murals.

- Curated a successful 40 person art show entitled "In the Midst of Hope"

- Flew to Colorado three times. (love it there)

- Became more aware of how grateful I am for the life I have.

- Continued to be a vegetarian.

- Worked closely with a few select non-profits.

- Rode my bike more.

- Went fishing more then I ever have before.

- Sold more artwork outside the United States then in the past.

- Learned about myself & the world around me more.

- In 2012 I'm looking forward to painting more personal work and traveling more often.
